Personal Life
Coach Lutz comes from a family of athletes. His father, a career public school teacher, was a four-sport athlete in college and went on to become a successful pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals baseball organization. Jim’s mother was the founder and director of one of the nation’s first day care centers.
Lutz’s four brothers all played sports in high school, with three of them playing in college. One brother played volleyball at Penn State University, and another brother played professional basketball in Europe.
Coach Lutz and his wife live in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and have eight children – the youngest four are adopted. He is very active in his church, is very active in his community, and has been a guest speaker at a number of conferences, summer camps, and local schools. In his spare time he loves to read books on American history, talk about entrepreneurship, and study the Bible.
